Yes — on the native iOS and Android apps. The web app pauses when your browser is backgrounded; the native app keeps a clean breadcrumb trail through the full shift.
Will my battery die?+
Background GPS on modern phones costs about 3–5% per hour. Most drivers run a full 10-hour shift and finish above 40% with a cheap dash charger.
Is the data IRS-defensible?+
Every shift carries a timestamped breadcrumb trail with lat/long. The CSV export gives you date, miles, destination, and business purpose — the four things the IRS asks for.
Can my boss see where I am?+
Only if you're on a Fleet plan that your boss pays for. Solo accounts are private — no one but you sees your trail.
